Istituto di Fisica Applicata "Nello Carrara" (IFAC-CNR), Florence, Italy

Dr. Giovanni Agati got a Doctor Degree in Physics in 1983 at the University of Florence, Italy.

After a few professional experiences in the USA (Post-Doc position at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nevada - Reno, Nevada – USA, (1988-1989); Research Fellow at the Department of Medicine, University of California – S. Francisco, CA–USA (1992-1993), he got a position as Researcher at the Italian Consiglio Nazionale Delle Ricerche (CNR).

He is currently affiliated to the Istituto di Fisica Applicata “Nello Carrara” – CNR with the position of Research Director.

Since the 1990s, his research area consisted of :

Fluorescence spectroscopy of plant components, Application of non-destructive optical methods for polyphenol determinations, Fluorescence microimaging for the tissue localization of polyphenolic compounds in leaves and fruits,  Fluorescence spectroscopy applied to the study of plant-pathogen interaction,  Application of optical sensors for precision agriculture, Non-destructive spectroscopic maturation indices of wine grape and apples, Non-destructive indices of leaf nitrogen.

He is the author of more than 100 papers on international peer-reviewed journals (H-index = 34, WOS).
